Since July 30th is World Day Against Trafficking In Persons and my launch fell on July 30th, I’ve decided to donate a portion of the sales from every 30A tank and hoodie sold to charities who work to end human trafficking and sex slavery. Some charities who I currently support are…

The Well House – Exists to honor God by rescuing and providing opportunities for restoration to female victims of human trafficking who have been sexually exploited
Our Rescue – In the past six years of existence, O.U.R. has rescued 3,800 victims and assisted in the arrests of more than 2,100 traffickers around the world. The partners we are empowering have collectively helped rescue the lives of more than 10,000 survivors who were enslaved, exploited or at risk
End It Movement – On the ground, in the streets, busting down doors, manning hotlines, prosecuting traffickers, freeing people. Creating systemic change.
Child Rescue Coalition – Nonprofit that enables law enforcement to track, arrest & prosecute child predators. Over 12000 arrests, 2500 child rescues, 90+ countries, and counting. Protecting innocence through technology.

My Heart Behind World Day Against Trafficking In Persons

This is such an important cause to support. My heart is saddened by everything we are hearing and seeing in our world right now. My world view was blown to smithereens the day I found out about human trafficking. I remember sitting at Brook Hills and learning about the End It Movement. I remember learning that the I-20 corridor from Birmingham to Atlanta and even the Galleria here in Birmingham specifically can be highly trafficked areas for human traffickers. The feeling, the sorrow, the young twenty-something-year-old girl I was, was scared, heartbroken, and wrecked that this is a reality in our world.

In the past, I tried to forget how ugly sin can really be. It’s horrifying, black, dark, and sinister. I heard a podcast interview with a girl who said she put a portion of her proceeds towards human trafficking and her reason made me think. She reasoned that if her livelihood was going to come from the internet where pornography ran rampant and made it so much more accessible for so many stumbling humans then she wanted part of her proceeds to go towards abolishing that.

It was a lightbulb moment for me to realize I too could do something tangible with the revenue I make online to make a difference no matter how small. I came in contact with The Well House through a PR project I did at Samford University where we made cross necklaces like The Well House victims make and sell to fund their mission of helping women come in off the streets and have a place to restore and regrow through the hope in Christ.

God has woven my story with a knowledge of this awful underground thing that is happening in our own country and all across the world. We have 30 million slaves in the world and 10 million of those are children. Trafficking is the third most profitable business for organized crime. American CHILDREN are the number one victims in America. There are 2 billion children sexually exploited in the multi-billion dollar commercial sex industry and we CANNOT remain silent anymore, friends. I know it’s uncomfortable but we must speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Some children are being abused as early as birth… how is this EVEN possible?
