Healthy Challenge: Meal Planning

Healthy Challenge Meal Planning by Alabama Health + Family blogger, My Life Well Loved // Heather Brown

How do you go about meal planning each week? Does it look more like a fly by the seat of your pants on Monday for spaghetti, Tuesday you were late finishing at work so you just grab dinner out, Wednesday you were going to make tacos but forgot you were out of taco seasoning and by Thursday you just give up all hope? Yeah, that’s a LOT of Americans.

It’s time to take control though! Today your challenge is to figure out how you will organize your meals. Whether your main objective is to keep it frugal, eat paleo, or to make kid-friendly, easy meals, you need a plan of action. Pick the day of the week that is most conducive to your schedule to sit down and make a plan for the week. For me, I know I have two options when it comes to meal planning. I can either one: Sit down with a notebook, look at what’s on sale at Publix, go to my Pinterest boards/family recipes/cookbooks and match up what’s on sale with recipes, make sure all recipes are your style of eating (for me that means Clean Eating), write down all ingredients, make a grocery list, print off any coupons that apply and go shop.

Or option two is to just let eMeals do all the work. eMeals is the meal plan subscription service that’s only around $5 per month that does all that legwork for you! You can read my full review of it here if that interests you. BUT no matter which one you decide, it is imperative for your health, your budget, and your peace of mind to do it weekly.

Need some help coming up with easy healthy recipes? Check out my Healthy Heather Pinterest Board which is FULL of healthy eating ideas, recipes, tips, and more! It’s everything I need (and hopefully you too!) for healthy living. The Southwestern Quinoa pictured above is one of my favorite go-to’s!

Even if you decide to cook 3-4 meals per week and make enough for leftovers or to freeze for later meals, take charge of your kitchen and eating schedule. It makes a world of difference! Plus if you have it written or printed out, your kids or hubs can help you start cooking before you’re even home if necessary!

How’s are you feeling during your 10 Day Challenge? I’d love to hear how your body is responding and what the toughest part for you so far has been! Please keep checking in with me on Instagram and Facebook with the #HealthyEatingChallenge tag.
