This southern girl is headed to the big city! The city that never sleeps. NEW YORK CITY, I’m coming for you! I’m packing my cowboy boots, sun dresses, a black tie dress, some killer heels and of course my southern drawl to hit NYC! What’s the occasion you ask? We’re going to a fabulous black tie affair wedding for one of the hubs’ high school friend’s wedding weekend. The groom was an usher in our wedding and we are honored that they have invited us to their big day and to explore their city.
I have been to New York City one other time; in high school and don’t remember that much about it. Well, other than being swept off my feet in Times Square, singing in Carnegie Hall with our choir, and being mesmerized by Wicked! Eric has never been and we are trying to get in a New York state of mind…which is where you guys come in.
We need your help! We want to hear where to go, what to see, what to eat, and what to do. We’ll be working with a small window of time: Thursday-Monday with lots of fabulous wedding events thrown in the mix. So…..please comment away with your best NYC spots! What show must we see? What pizza is the end all be all? Please help us out. 🙂
Edited to Add after our trip, here’s what we did! The Wedding to End All Weddings, NYC: The Food and Getting Lost in NYC
Should be warm enough for the empire hotel rooftop bar! So fun. And Maria’s is an underground show tunes piano bar, it’s really cool.
I love NYC! I know I said this on FB but go to Serendipity and get a Frozen Hot Chocolate. Also, do the touristy things if you haven’t before – statue of liberty, empire state building. And go shopping, of course!
Favorite Places to Eat:
The Meatball Shop – So delicious! They have excellent drinks + fun jello shots with locations all over the city.
Jacob’s Pickles – AMAZING southern food in the UWS. Really fun atmosphere and the food is absolutely delicious.
Penelope – My entire family is addicted to their brunch. They have nutella french toast. SO GOOD.
I’ve never been to NYC, but it’s on my short list of places to go soon. I can’t wait to see how your adventures turn out! 🙂
Wow! Not sure where to start! Born in Manhattan and raised in northern NJ and love NYC! I suggest with such a short time you do one of the tours in which you can hop on and off. Start in Times Square. They take you all over the island and you can choose to get off at place such as Little Italy, Chinatown, Central Park which is a must, the various museums, downtown at the World Trade Center site and they even take you over to Brooklyn. Have fun!
As far as pizza goes, you will get 100 opinions from 100 people, but our favorite is John’s Pizza, just off Times Sqaure 🙂
