What better time than Valentine’s Day to talk about self confidence and loving our bodies? As a mom in today’s era, it’s hard to feel confident. We see perfection all over our “Explore” pages on Instagram and can seemingly not escape the cultural worldview surrounding us.
The cultural worldview is at war with our self confidence. This is what I hear from Christian women online…
- Women have told me that they have zero confidence
- Women have told me they don’t know what their “why” is in this world or how to get started
- Women have told me they feel like they lost their bodies after having babies
FRIEND! Is this you???
This is where we have to flip it. Your body did an incredible thing, and you need to approach it from a place of love.
Our confidence comes from within, not from what’s external.
Tips For Self Confidence As a Christian Mom: The Cultural Worldview Vs. Biblical Worldview
The cultural worldview: This worldview has set us up to fail. And it is persistent. It tells us we FAIL every single day. We create our own identities based on what we see around us. We get stuck comparing ourselves to what we see on TV, Instagram, and with the people around us. We often find ourselves looking for identity in relationships with other people, work, or status.
The biblical worldview: This worldview tells us that our identity is found in Christ. However, to adopt this mindset…
You must look up from your phone and worldly distractions and fix your eyes on Jesus.
When you do, you’ll see that you’re known and loved today by a Creator who made you perfect in HIM and called you to be your kids’ mom, and you are so perfectly equipped by our Lord.
Don’t miss it, friend!! You are:
- KNOWN
- LOVED
- PERFECT IN HIS IMAGE
- CALLED BY GOD TO BE “MOM” TO YOUR BABIES!
- SAVED BY GRACE
I want to encourage you today that the believer’s identity in Christ is that when you look in the mirror, you see who you are and that you are saved.
Tips For Self Confidence As A Christian Mom: Make Healthy Choices From A Place Of Confidence
So if we know we are known, loved, perfect in His image, saved by His grace, and called to be in the role we are currently in, now what???
Before you try to make external changes to gain confidence, you must choose to change yourself internally.
This means that you cannot start going for runs every morning because you hate how you look, but you choose to go on runs in the morning because you love yourself and like how good you feel when you get home.
Take care of yourself because God gave you one perfect body – yes, your body is perfect! – and because you love Him and the life He gave you.
