As I declared in my Best Posts of 2016 post, my word for the year of 2017 is: Simplify. The less I have to think about, schedule in and figure out, the better. I want to start saying no more unless it’s a HECK YES! Keeping this new mantra in mind, I wanted to share a little bit about my Christmas party simplification process that you may be able to use for New Year’s.
Instead of worrying about doing my own acrylic nails, hair and makeup and stressing about the baby destroying the bathroom while I got ready, I booked appointments and had it all done for me. Now, granted, that’s not realistic for every event I ever have but when I need an occasional splurge, this is a nice one! It was so fun to be pampered and to get all dolled up without the effort to enjoy a night out on the town with my husband and friends.
Should you choose to accept it, here’s your plan of action for Mission: Simplify Your New Year’s Eve:
- Grab a girlfriend (Everyone say Hi! to Bertha!) and go to to get your nails done. And, why not have a glass of wine to unwind while you do? I went to The Venetian at The Summit.
- Get your makeup done. I went to Mac because I love their dramatic eye makeup and often when others do my makeup, they don’t do it heavy enough for me. If I wear minimal makeup most days and I go to pay someone to do my makeup, I want my eyes and mascara to really pop, dang it! 😉
- Get you hair done. I really loved the volume, soft waves and the way it stayed all night. I have very hard to tame curly hair. Many times stylists struggle with it because once they blow it out, it then wants to drop the curls they put back into it. Plus it’s fine and can be a little frizzy. Stop, I know you’re jealous. HA!
- I loved going to the Summit to get it all done because again I simplified the routine down to just one location. It was so nice to be able to hit up hair, makeup and nails all in one place, plus I felt pampered before my big night out.

We are going to get together with some friends who also have kids so we can put the babies to bed in pack and plays and all hang out. I plan to bring some guacamole and some puppy chow to enjoy before I start Whole 30 on Monday!
